Winston-Salem entrepreneur and Frank Myers Auto Maxx owner Tracy Myers is adding another accomplishment to his growing list of achievements. Myers recently served as Executive Producer of the powerful short film Esperanza, directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Nick Nanton.
The film's VIP Red Carpet Premiere was held at a'perture cinema in Winston-Salem on Thursday, May 2, 2013. The invitation-only event sold out weeks in advance, generating excitement among community leaders, business professionals, and supporters of the inspiring cause featured in the film.
"I am extremely honored to have been Executive Producer of this film and to be personally involved with Esperanza International," said Myers. "I'm also proud that the VIP Red Carpet Premiere is being held in the great city of Winston-Salem."
A Story of Hope and Transformation
Esperanza tells the remarkable story of Esperanza International, an organization dedicated to helping families break the cycle of poverty through programs focused on income generation, education, and healthcare. Rather than offering temporary relief, Esperanza empowers individuals and families with the tools and opportunities needed to create lasting change in their own lives.
The organization's mission is simple yet powerful: provide "a hand up, not a handout."
Through compelling interviews and real-life stories, the film highlights the lives of families who have transformed their futures through entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency. Viewers witness firsthand how access to small business opportunities can restore dignity, confidence, and hope to those who once believed they had none.
From Baseball to a Lifelong Mission
The story begins with former Seattle Mariners catcher Dave Valle. When Valle traveled to the Dominican Republic to play winter baseball in 1985, he expected to improve his game. Instead, he encountered a level of poverty that profoundly impacted him and his wife.
Motivated to make a difference, the Valles founded Esperanza in 1995. Their vision was to help families build better lives through opportunity, education, and economic empowerment.
Nearly two decades later, Esperanza's impact continues to grow, helping thousands of families create sustainable businesses and brighter futures for their children.
More Than a Film
Esperanza is more than a documentary. It is a reminder of what can happen when people are given the opportunity to succeed. The film captures stories of perseverance, entrepreneurship, and renewed hope while showcasing the life-changing work being carried out every day by Esperanza International.
Dave Valle describes Esperanza as "the gift that keeps on giving," and the film demonstrates exactly why. As families gain financial independence and self-confidence, the positive effects ripple throughout entire communities and future generations.
Making an Impact Beyond Business
For Tracy Myers, serving as Executive Producer reflects a commitment that extends beyond entrepreneurship and business success. Throughout his career, Myers has been passionate about supporting organizations and initiatives that make a meaningful difference in people's lives.
The premiere of Esperanza in Winston-Salem brought together community members to celebrate a story that inspires action, compassion, and hope. It also highlighted the power of storytelling to shine a light on important causes and motivate positive change around the world.
Through films like Esperanza, audiences are reminded that sometimes the most valuable investment isn't measured in dollars, but in the lives transformed through opportunity, dignity, and hope.
