Tracy Myers, Owner of Frank Myers Auto Maxx, Inducted Into 2009 Hall of Fame

In February 2009, I received one of the greatest honors of my professional career when I was inducted into the Triad Business Leader Hall of Fame.

At first glance, it sounds like an individual achievement. My name is on the plaque. My photo was taken. My story was shared.

But the truth is, that honor was never really about me.

When I stood on that stage, I thought about my father, Frank Myers, who started this business in 1990. I thought about the countless employees who had dedicated themselves to serving our customers. I thought about the loyal customers who trusted us with one of the most important purchases they make.

Most of all, I thought about the journey.

Just a few years earlier, our company had faced some of the toughest challenges imaginable. The automotive industry was changing rapidly. Competition was fierce. The economy was uncertain. Every day brought new obstacles and new lessons.

Like many business owners, I discovered that success isn't built during the easy times. Success is built when you keep showing up during the difficult times.

The Triad Business Leader Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to business and the community throughout the region. To be included among so many respected leaders was both humbling and inspiring.

What made the recognition especially meaningful was that it came from the community where I was born, raised, and built my career. The Triad has supported my family for generations. To receive that level of recognition from the people and organizations that know your story best is something you never forget.

The award also reinforced an important lesson that has guided me throughout my career: business should be about more than selling products or services.

A successful business should create opportunities.

It should serve customers with integrity.

It should provide careers that allow people to support their families.

And it should give back to the community that supports it.

Those principles have guided Frank Myers Auto Maxx for decades, and they continue to guide us today.

Looking back now, more than seventeen years later, I'm grateful for the recognition. But I'm even more grateful for what happened after it.

The business continued to grow. New challenges emerged. New opportunities appeared. We expanded our impact, served more customers, created more jobs, and became more involved in our community than ever before.

That's why I don't view the Hall of Fame induction as a finish line.

I view it as a reminder.

A reminder that success is rented, and the rent is due every day.

A reminder that leadership is about serving others.

And a reminder that no meaningful accomplishment is ever achieved alone.

To everyone who has been part of this journey, from employees and customers to friends, family, and community partners, thank you.

That Hall of Fame honor may have carried my name, but it belongs to all of us.

And for that, I'll always be grateful.
